Hospitality Awards Celebrate The Cream of the North

at one of the region’s most prestigious and sought after events 

  

The crème de la crème of the Northern hospitality industry gathered on Monday night (7th April 2008) under the exquisite roof of Manchester’s five star Lowry Hotel to celebrate and applaud the best of Northern hospitality talent.

For the third year running, the Northern Hospitality Awards ensured the cream of the North got their just desserts as awards were presented for best restaurant, bar, hotel, pub, chef mentor, chef, newcomer, wine offering and the coveted special achievement award.

Thom Hetherington, the Managing Director of the awards’ organisers, Moorfield Media, said: “Once again, we are proud to host the Northern Hospitality Awards and work with the industry across the region to go from hundreds of entries to nine exceptional winners.  These awards are unique and reflect the strength and depth of the hospitality industry in our region”.

The winners of the 2008 Northern Hospitality Awards are:

Best Hotel                                 Lowry Hotel, Manchester

Best Bar                                   Barlounge, Chester

Best Pub                                   The Shoulder of Mutton, Kirkby Overblow, N Yorkshire

Best Newcomer                       The Pipe & Glass Inn, East Yorkshire

Best Chef Mentor                     Eyck Zimmer, The Lowry, Manchester

Best Chef                                 Lisa Allen, Northcote Manor, Lancashire

Best Wine Offering                  Northcote Manor, Lancashire

Special Achievement Award   Reg Johnson, Johnson & Swarbrick

The awards’ guests enjoyed a fabulous 3 course dinner prepared by Best Chef Mentor 2008, Eyck Zimmer of The Lowry. The host for the ceremony was Nigel Barden, food and drink journalist and regular on the Chris Evans Radio 2 Drive Time Show. The 2008 Awards are sponsored by Livebookings Network, Seabrook Crisps, The Russell Partnership, Applied Ability Awards, Blend Recruitment, Matthew Clark, Brown-Forman, Steelite and Moorfield Media with support from Venus, Miller Brands and Special Occasion Linen.
